Press release: Cannabis Social Club Dortmund applies for cultivation license

The Cannabis Social Club Dortmund, a non-profit association with currently 80 members, submitted an application to the Arnsberg district government this week for a license to cultivate cannabis. Founded in 2023, the club is committed to a liberal and responsible drug policy. With this step, it aims to ensure a safe and legal supply of high-quality cannabis for its members.

Dominik De Marco, 1st Chairman of the association, underlines the importance of this step: "By applying for a cultivation license, we are taking a decisive step towards our goal of providing our members with safe and controlled access to cannabis. A regulated supply not only protects the health of consumers, but also helps to curb the black market and reduce the associated crime."

The association has developed a comprehensive concept for youth protection, prevention and safety in close cooperation with an experienced expert - an addiction counselor, trainer for addiction prevention and IHK examiner. This detailed concept describes the various measures that the association will implement to protect young people and prevent addiction.

"Our concept is intended to set new standards for responsible cannabis dispensing," concludes De Marco. "By carefully documenting our measures, we want to ensure that our prevention work is verifiable and creates a solid basis for evaluation."

The Cannabis Social Club Dortmund is initially planning to accept 100 members. After receiving the cultivation license, the club will rent a suitable property to start growing cannabis. Talks with potential landlords are already underway. The club expects a decision on the application by November 2024.
