The Cannabis Social Club Dortmund is the first association in Dortmund to receive official authorization from the Arnsberg district government to cultivate cannabis. With this license, the club is recognized as a cultivation association. The aim of the association is to provide its members with safe, controlled and responsible access to cannabis - always with a clear focus on prevention, youth protection and social responsibility.
The starting signal for cultivation will be given on January 1, 2025, with the first delivery to members planned for April 2025. This deliberately chosen preparation time is intended to ensure that all processes are planned and implemented with the utmost care in order to guarantee high standards in the areas of safety and prevention. "We don't want to rush things," explains Dominik De Marco, Chairman of the association. "Our aim is to get everything right from the start - from planning and implementation to long-term support for our members."
The production facility is set up in a secret location and equipped with state-of-the-art security technology. The drop-off point will also be designed in accordance with the strictest security requirements and will only be known to members of the association. "We attach great importance to ensuring that only authorized persons have access," emphasizes De Marco. "Unauthorized persons or onlookers have no place here."
Prevention as a central concern
A core concern of the association is prevention work. Two specially trained prevention officers are available to members as trusted contacts. "Our prevention officers are not supervisors, but confidants," explains De Marco. "They implement the prevention programme, organize training courses and offer advice." In doing so, the association respects the self-determination of its members and doesn't point a moral finger. Instead, the aim is to prevent risky consumption patterns and strengthen protective factors through education and advice. Regular further training for prevention officers ensures that the work is always at the cutting edge of science.
Limited number of members and code of honor
The club currently has 85 members. At the start, the Cannabis Social Club Dortmund will accept a maximum of 100 members. As soon as this limit is reached, a temporary admission freeze will be imposed. "It's important to us to get to know every member personally," explains De Marco. "This is the only way we can ensure that everyone shares our values and adheres to our code of honor adhere to our code of honor." This includes guidelines for treating each other with respect and rules for the responsible use of cannabis. "Our code of honor is not just a set of rules - it reflects our attitude," De Marco continues.
Membership costs a one-off admission fee of 350 euros and a monthly membership fee of 25 euros. The admission fee is used to finance the establishment of the association and compliance with safety and quality standards. The selling prices for cannabis are based on the quantity purchased (up to 50g per month and member). In the long term, the association plans to reduce the fees as soon as all necessary investments have been completed.
"Our aim is to reinvest all income in the association," concludes De Marco. "This will allow us to take on more members in the medium term and cover our running costs in the long term."
