We pursue a transparent and fair pricing policy that aims to cover all the costs incurred for community cultivation, quality assurance and the administration of our growers' association. We work on a non-profit basis: every euro we earn is reinvested directly in the operation of the growers' association.
Our goal is to provide our members with safe, responsible and high-quality access to cannabis in a sustainable and future-oriented way.
Unit price: EUR 8 per gram 🥦
We have decided on a uniform price of EUR 8 per gram, which already includes the statutory VAT of 19%. This price applies to all our members, regardless of the monthly quantity or cannabis strain purchased.
Why a unit price and no quantity discounts? %
We have deliberately decided against volume discounts. The reason for this lies in the legal and ethical responsibility of our association: volume discounts could be interpreted by the authorities as incentivizing consumption, which is neither compatible with our principles nor with the legal requirements. The aim is to promote the responsible use of cannabis and not to increase consumption through financial incentives.
What is the unit price made up of? 🤔
The price of EUR 8 per gram is the result of a detailed cost calculation. It is made up of various costs incurred for the cultivation, processing, quality control and administration of our association. As we are only allowed to operate as a non-profit organization, we are only allowed to pass on the actual costs incurred to our members.
Our cost structure 💰
Our pricing policy follows a clear cost structure. The monthly membership costs are made up of the cannabis price per gram (non-genuine membership fees) and a membership fee (genuine membership fees). These contributions form the basis for the entire financing of our association's purpose. In this way, we ensure that both the cultivation and the organizational requirements can be sustainably financed.
With the start of the first cannabis dispensary, we are reducing the monthly membership fee from EUR 25 to EUR 15. This reflects our commitment to keep the financial burden on our members as low as possible as soon as the association can operate in a more economically stable manner.
Use of the membership fees 💶
The contributions of our members enable us to finance the entire operation of the association. This includes, among other things, the costs of growing and processing cannabis. We are currently renting and equipping a 360 square meter production area, procuring operating resources and employing (prospective) staff, e.g. in administration, prevention work, cultivation and quality assurance.
Regular laboratory tests are carried out to ensure that our cannabis meets the highest quality standards. Packaging, transportation and storage costs are also covered by these funds. We attach great importance to sustainability and environmental friendliness in all areas.
The contributions also cover the association's general administrative costs. These include rental and ancillary costs for our administrative premises, software solutions for member administration and compliance as well as insurance and legal advice.
We also invest in the development and implementation of prevention and youth protection concepts to promote the responsible use of cannabis. Further expenditure relates to our IT infrastructure, accounting and official requirements such as fire safety measures and TÜV inspections.
Another key aspect is the security measures at our locations. We attach great importance to professional security monitoring both in the production areas and at the distribution points in order to ensure the highest standards for the protection of our members and the association.
Minimum purchase quantity 📊
In the initial phase of the association, we have set a minimum purchase quantity of 5 grams per month, which corresponds to a monthly amount of EUR 40. The quantity can be increased in 5-gram increments up to a maximum of 50 grams per month, which means a monthly cost of EUR 400.
In order to ensure reliable planning during cultivation - especially in the sensitive start-up phase - it is not possible to adjust the selected quantity within a membership period (which is legally set at three months). This is to avoid overproduction and to ensure that no cannabis has to be destroyed. After harvesting, we are allowed to store the cannabis for a maximum of three months due to legal requirements (best before date), after which it must be destroyed in a special process.
As soon as our structures have settled in and we have gained experience, we would like to make the issue more flexible for our members. Our long-term goal is to give our members the opportunity to adjust their monthly quantity individually - possibly even at short notice on the same day. Until then, we ask for your understanding that this flexibility cannot yet be realized.
One-off admission fee 🚀
When joining the association, a one-off admission fee of EUR 350 is payable in addition to the monthly membership fee. The admission fee serves as start-up financing and consists of two parts: EUR 150 for initial costs (non-refundable) and EUR 200 as an interest-free loan to the association.
The loan is expected to be repaid in the 4th quarter of 2025 - either as a credit for future contributions or, if desired, directly as a payment to the bank account.
For prevention reasons, we always offer our members the option of having the pro rata admission fee of EUR 200 paid into their bank account instead of using it as a credit. It is important to us not to encourage anyone to consume - especially not if someone has reduced or completely stopped their consumption. We consider it unethical to oblige members to use any remaining credit exclusively for cannabis.
With this structure, we are creating the basis for important investments in the future of the association. This includes the expansion of our cultivation areas and renovation work. At the same time, we are securing the long-term financial stability of the association.
Transparency as a basic principle 🔍
Transparency is a core value for us. We are committed to disclosing all relevant expenditure and informing our members about the financial status of the association at annual general meetings. This creates trust and enables every member to understand how their contributions are being used.
Sustainability and responsibility 🌱
Our pricing policy is designed not only to promote responsible cannabis use, but also to create a sustainable basis for the association's operations. The combination of the uniform cannabis price, the monthly membership fee and the one-off admission fee enables us to meet all necessary financial obligations - from cultivation to administration - while offering our members a high-quality service.
The financial support of the members forms the basis for important investments by the association, such as the expansion of the cultivation area or necessary renovation work. At the same time, it ensures the long-term stability of the association and makes it possible to achieve the central goal of establishing a safe, legal and sustainable supply of cannabis in Dortmund.
