Routes through the support system
- First stepAddiction counsellingFree of charge and confidential, with no preconditions. Works out with you what suits you and refers you on.
- If neededDetoxIn a hospital or at a doctor’s practice, with psychiatric support if required.
- TreatmentAddiction treatmentAs rehabilitation: outpatient, in a day clinic or inpatient. Usually paid for by the pension insurance or the health insurance fund.
- AfterwardsAftercare and self-helpOften recommended after rehabilitation, to help you keep going.
Not everyone needs every step. The counselling service is the first point of contact, including for family members. Other ways in: youth addiction counselling for young people, the social psychiatric service in a crisis, and online counselling such as DigiSucht at any time.
